Willem van Meurs, MSc (EE), PhD (control engineering) is the inventor/developer of a number of full-body patient simulators for medical training, including the Human patient simulator (1994) and the Lucina maternal-fetal simulator (2015). To date over 7000 of these simulators were sold by CAE Healthcare, Montreal, Canada. His teaching and research interests include: Systems, models, and simulators; Medical training simulator design; Modeling and simulation of cardiorespiratory physiology and pharmacology; and perinatal physiology.
